Honored to Participate: Chairs for Charity 2024

At iN STUDIO, we are driven by a deep commitment to thoughtful design, sustainability, and the power of collaboration. This October, we had the privilege of participating in the Chairs for Charity competition, hosted by Contemporary Office Interiors in partnership with Arido, Eames Office, and MillerKnoll Canada. This inspiring event celebrated design, creativity, and teamwork, all in the name of supporting a greater purpose.

The event brought together ten unique submissions, each transforming an iconic Eames chair into a work of art. Proceeds from the auction—totaling over $5,500—are funding scholarships for interior design students across Ontario, advancing equity, diversity, and inclusion in the design industry.

Our entry took a sustainable approach, reimagining the iconic Eames chair with a bespoke slipcover crafted in collaboration with the talented women-owned team at LI/NE Bags. Using upcycled sails as our primary material, we highlighted the possibilities of design-driven sustainability. With over 2,000 tons of sailcloth and 10 million tons of furniture heading to landfills annually, we saw this as an opportunity to show how thoughtful repurposing can create beauty and purpose.

We’re thrilled and humbled to share that our chair not only received the most bids during the auction but also won the Judges' Choice Award for best chair in the competition. It’s an honor that underscores the creativity and care poured into this project by everyone involved.

Adding to the excitement, our chair was featured in designlines, shining a light on the innovation and heart behind our design. We’re grateful to Contemporary Office Interiors, Arido, and all the event’s partners for organizing such a meaningful initiative.
